New AI

Postby matkuf » Thu Sep 15, 2016 7:14 am

Hi!
So I used to lurk on the old broodwarai forum, what happened to it? I hope there are still some AI enthusiasts around.

I like playing versus (non cheating)AI for casual fun. I play Terran(super turtle straight mech exclusively in all match ups) and for TvP I use Unleaded P AI (T vs. 2P). For TvZ I couldn't find a AI that was the right mix of challenging and compatible with my play style. I would either play versus 2x Accel Z (too easy), 3x Accel Z(too hard), or 3x Unleaded Z(too easy). So I made my own!

I am seeking CC and answers to a few questions. The biggest problem I'm facing is that as the game progresses the AI attacks with less and less of its army keeping most of it at home. Any help on that or general feedback on improving the AI would be great :).

Also, why don't some commands like prep_down or eval_harass work or accept arguments in PyAI / bwai launcher?

I've attached a replay created with bwai launcher and the ai text file itself. I've only tested the AI on Dante's Peak which I personally believe is the best map for playing versus AI. Why? Modern, pro map. A lot of expansions. Not a lot of narrow chokes to exploit against the AI(one of its greatest weaknesses). And high ground areas for defenders advantage / dynamic play.

Try it if you're bored :) Thanks for reading!

Also, if anyone still has the files required to create AI vs AI replays (BlankAI.exe and the melee triggers), I'd really appreciate a share. Debugging with replays would be a lot faster than playing the AI myself every time. :) Thanks!

This comes a bit late, but for some reason later versions of BWAIlauncher removed the "remove observer" trigger.

It's possible older versions online might have it: http://sc.nibbits.com/assets/bwai-launcher/

You can also try making it yourself, and use WINmpq to edit the entropy file (but use a copy always in order to not mess up the original)

When you make the trigger files, make sure to delete any unwanted triggers like ending in defeat with 0 buildings since you want the AI vs AI reps to go on indefinitely.

I'd also try something like Cheatengine to speed things up, but watch out for the adware.

Anyhow, glad to see people are still using BWAilauncher.

Edit: Found the backup files hidden somewhere

Copy this file to the Ai vs AI package (not like you're going to use that file for anything else) Launch this file directly, tell it where your starcraft.exe files; create a top vs bottom game XXv Y, where you and X are of the same race; start a game and do nothing-- it will remove you
