Even bunker containing as you mentioned I think would be quite a challenge for a bot to execute well (knowing when to hold and when to run).

And knowing where to place bunkers!

Laccolith, how do you know Skynet I/O didn't work at the beginning of the competition?

@abcdefg: The I/O system can also be used for spotting which strategies works against a given opponent. AIUR and UAlbertaBot are working this way. For AIUR, one amoung 5 strategies is randomly picked up at the beginning of a game. Before 20 games, picking each strategy is equiprobable, but after 20 games against the same bot, AIUR starts to analyse which strategies work or not and then modify the probability distribution in order to have more chance to select an efficient strategy. Thus, it doesn't select all the time the best strategy, since this would be a predictable behavior. However, I'm a bit surprized to not see real improvements games after games (and actually, not just for AIUR but for everyone).

Dave let me know when he was testing the bots it wasn't outputting anything. We tried a recompile with the paths slightly changed before the start but it didn't help. But once it started it seemed to be doing fine without it so didn't look into it any further.
