That's odd. Maybe it's not the BWTA that crashes. In fact I've successfully used it on some maps in the ICCUP pack including ICCup python 1.3 which you mention. Also make sure that you are using BWAPI Beta 2.6.1 it has a stable and recent version of BWTA included. Hope this helps you to resolve your...
