Maybe you can make a scenario with one arbiter, one pylon, one enemy wraith that attacks you, etc.? The simplest possible canned scenario you can make that reproduces the error every time.

Those IMUL and IDIV instructions sure aren't very intuitive, are they? Just step through ollydbg and see what answers pop out. It'll probably come out to be something straightforward like "multiply plague weapon damage by 60%."

Can anyone give me some insight as to what the rankIncrease member of Unit* does? (offset 0x8e)

It seems to be 0 for most units, and a quick memory access breakpoint in OllyDbg shows that it's not often queried.
